Luck in Bingo and the Gambler’s Fallacy
In bingo, luck comes not in choosing the cards or card symmetry well but in playing more casino cards. Having more cards will increase your chances of winning. This is particularly true of the number of players is not significant.
However, playing more cards also mean paying more for each game. The expense is something you need to consider. The costs you incur could offset your winnings. If you play for a huge jackpot prize and there are many players then opt to play for a few cards.
The Gambler’s Fallacy
These are the misconceptions with regards to gambling
• A random event is more likely to happen because it has not happened for a span of time
• A random event is less likely to happen because it has not happened for a span of time
• A random event is more likely to happen because it occurred recently
• A random event is less likely to happen because it occurred recently
These misconceptions that gamblers believe in should be discarded because what happened in the past will not affect future happenings. For instance, if you flip a coin, it does necessarily follow that you will have similar results later.
Gambler’s fallacy actually pertains to the erroneous idea that the events in the past and the events about to occur are interrelated. For instance, just because the coin tossed came up with heads for 5 times in a row this does not mean that the next flip would produce heads too.
If someone has two coins, and one coin has never been tossed while the other has been tossed 6 times and came up with heads, it does not mean that the chances of getting heads and tails with the coin tossed 6 times is not 50-50 ratio still.
The gamblers fallacy is applicable to the game of bingo. The standard bingo has 75 numbers and each of these numbers have similar chance of being called. Just because some patterns are formed in the numbers being called, it does not follow that the chances of each number to be called is reduced. The rule of randomness still applies in every game. As a matter of fact, the more bingo plays, the more equal the distribution of numbers will be.
